I think about the assortment of men Jesus named apostles, fisherman, and tax men, and just very regular people. I picture Jesus sometimes walking along, muttering about their keeping the children away, or panicking over rough seas; their moments of 'little faith'. I muse whether he occasionally asked Himself, "And I'm going to build a CHURCH on the work of THESE
ReplyDeletepeople?" But He taught them, he nurtured them, and the Spirit came upon them. They did build a Church.
And, somehow, this assortment of followers, none remarkable in his own right, did step up to the Mission. And, we can too. He's sure of it!
